ISSUE 094 | August 2025

What if your next building project could feed bees, shelter birds, and cool the street at the same time? That’s the kind of design I’m hunting for this week. I happen to be in Hobart right now, but the search is everywhere.

Thanks for reading.

Call out for exceptional nature-positive design

I’m looking for the best nature-positive projects in the built environment - where design and construction actively give back to nature. Think architecture with habitat built in, thriving green roofs, man-made homes for wildlife, and more. If you’ve seen something that restores biodiversity while serving people, I’d love to hear about it.

My antidote to despair

In an era of depressing news cycles, Fix The News remains my beacon of light and hope. I've recommended it before, and every article is so uplifting that I can’t choose just one. Their work offers clarity amid chaos: a much-needed reminder that reporting on progress rather than ‘if it bleeds, it leads’ can still guide us through turbulent times.

If there was only one newsletter I could subscribe to, it would be this one.

No need for air con in QLD

This Queensland home eliminated the need for air conditioning in one of Australia's hottest regions through thoughtful design. Strategic windows capture breezes, geopolymer concrete cuts carbon emissions, and integrated systems harvest rainwater while supporting native wildlife. It's sustainability as the foundation of smart, responsive design - not just a marketing feature.

Out now in Home Beautiful magazine.
