ISSUE 050 | 5 December 2023

Hi friends!
It's December, and there are Christmas decorations all around us already. When it comes to the festive season and spending, it's an even better time to remember that every purchase is a vote for the world we want. Our money's impact matters—where, what, and why we spend. As conscious consumers, we influence the global economy. This season, let's practice conscious Christmas shopping for a more equitable, kind, and regenerative world.

I've got a great article for you below from B Lab called From Cart to Conscience: Flexing the power of your purchase decisions for good for a broad overview on spending, then I've linked to my B Corp gift guide again (an oldie but a goodie), and finally a plug for my Prints for Wildlife series that gives back to wildlife shelters, with the option of an XS print for small spaces or tight budgets.

From cart to conscience

This article explores the impact of holiday consumer spending, introduces the concept of "Return on Spending" for mindful purchases, and encourages support for B Corps committed to social and environmental goals.

The article advocates for conscious spending rather than a complete boycott - when taking imperfect action is better than no action at all.

The Ultimate B Corp gift guide

I’ve compiled a list of some of my favourite Australian certified B Corps, offering products that are actually making the world a better place.

I've broken it into categories such as fashion, creative, homewares and furniture, footwear, booze, travel, coffee and tea, adventures and outdoors, wellness and skincare.

Prints for Wildlife - small sizes

A while back I introduced an XS print into the fine art shop (20 x 30cm) - just right for a shelf or above a bed head. It's also good for smaller budgets, and can be purchased framed or unframed.

The Prints for Wildlife series gives 100% of profits back to the wildlife shelters where I photographed the animals.
