ISSUE 045 | 26 September 2023

Hi friends!

I've spent the last four days up in Far North Queensland, shooting a story on change makers working to protect the Great Barrier Reef. An inspirational bunch of people, that are great to profile  in the media to inspire hope and action. But, the amount of carbon emitted to get me to do so (5 commercial flights, two boat rides, a hire car, two small plane flights and a dive boat) is a real dilemma. I offset all my emissions, but that's not the point - it's meant to all be about reduction. One day when all travel is electric and powered by renewables (or AI takes my job!), this won't weigh on me as much - and by golly, it's not going to be that far away really. Just sign up to the Futurecrunch good newsletter, and you'll see how fast the transition to electric is progressing around the world (despite mainstream news outlets rarely reporting all these hopeful facts).

I'm also starting the first session of the pilot program - Business of Biodiversity, in partnership with Odonata, in a few hours. Can't wait! If you want to join the next cohort, put your name down on our waiting list - click here

Clients in the press

October seems to be the month for the ‘sustainable’ issue of a few Australian mags, and seven of my clients high performing projects got a spot.

Check them out in the link below, and shoot me an email if you have any upcoming projects you would like to photograph  - I pitch and manage the press submissions for you as part of my service, at no extra cost! So far in 2023, I've secured just under 80 separate pieces of press for my existing clients.

Sustainable Builders Alliance

Arising from Australian Builders Declare, the Sustainable Builders Alliance aims to promote low carbon, sustainable and high-performing construction practices.

They've made a 5 step roadmap - giving all the knowhow and the tools to start building low and zero carbon homes. It is written by builders, for builders - and anyone else interested in sustainable design and construction in the residential industry.

The pink cockatoo

The pink cockatoo has had a few names over the years. But in a recent effort to decolonise the naming of fauna, BirdLife Australia has renamed the endangered bird, more recently known as Major Mitchell's cockatoo, back to its former name, the pink cockatoo.

Much better than being named after a mass killer…
