Pro bono program

I'm delighted to announce that the successful applicant of the Round 1 of my Pro Bono program is the Australian Passive House Association. They are an independent, not-for-profit organisation which aims to lead change by educating, promoting, and supporting the delivery of Certified Passive House buildings in Australia. Their vision is that all Australians live and work in healthy, comfortable, low energy, resilient buildings.

So why is this important? Well, because buildings generate nearly 40% of annual global CO2 emissions. Of those total emissions, building operations are responsible for 28% annually, while building materials and construction (typically referred to as embodied carbon) are responsible for an additional 11% annually.

A certified passive house can cut energy use by 90%. There are three broad types of certified passive house - the Classic (which doesn't require the installation of renewable energy), the Passive House Plus (which aims to be effectively net zero, generating as much electricity as is required to run the operation of the house) and Passive House Premium (even more efficient, and produces a significant excess of energy over the year).

I’ll be opening up my second round for 2022 on 1 June 2022 - sign up to my newsletter here to be the first notified!
