What does your rate include?
You can choose between a half (4 hours) and full day (8 hours) rate for your shoot. This includes travel within 100 km of Riddells Creek in the Macedon Ranges, pre-production and communication. There is a flat fee for file handling and processing of digital files, which you will receive in both low res (for web) and high res (for print) files. TIFF files are available on request, but are generally only required for printing in extra large format or retaining information when using in Photoshop.
What do I receive from the shoot?
You will receive as many photos as we can get done in the time available, in both low res (for web use) and high res (for print use) format. You will receive the photos via a Dropbox link so you can download them onto your computer. I can also supply square format photos when requested (for use on social media or some website formats). If required, I can also sneak in some head shots for you, as I find that most business owners never have a good shot to use for press and websites etc. I can also do some ‘behind the scenes’ photos (of you making/doing/arranging/cooking) that you can use on your website, for press or even just social media if we're in your space or studio.
Where do we do the shoot, and does your rate include studio hire?
Depending on what we’re shooting, I can either come to you if you have loads of natural light, white walls and enough space - or I have a list of great studios around Melbourne that can be hired for the shoot. Most studios are around $250 for half a day, and some include basic prop hire as well. I have a soft spot for XO Studios in Brunswick East - it has great light and space (and you can even drive into Studio 1, which makes unpacking SO easy). Hiring the right space is well worth the investment, as it saves greatly on time (trying to make a unsuitable space workable) and will also make much better photos for you in the end.
For commercial work, I only use natural light as I find it much more beautiful and it is an essential part of my style.
When will I receive my photos?
All of your photos will be edited and supplied to you with a relatively quick turnaround time, generally within a couple of days of the shoot. Photos will only be supplied once the full invoice has been paid.
What do I need to do to prepare for the shoot?
Have a think about what orientation you need the photos in (portrait/landscape/ square, or a mix of all three)? It helps to make a rough shot list of what you would like, in order of priority in case we either get through things more quickly or slowly than anticipated, and also brainstorm what kind of props you want to use and where we can source them from. Sharing a private shared Pinterest board well before the shoot is a great idea to ensure that we're both on the same page in regard to style and aesthetic (find me at @marniehawson).
Once you book in the shoot, we will find a date that works for both of us and lock it in. I need approximately 4-6 weeks notice for a shoot, so the earlier you give me a date - the more likely it is that we can make it happen when you need it.
You will then be emailed a quote that includes my contract, and you can sign it online. The contract gives you details about services, fees, and usage. We will then continue our discussions on the creative requirements of the shoot, and make some great photos!
Marnie
