Being a photographer means that you can buy a lot of props (hello tax deductible goodies!). I'm lucky that I can use a lot of pieces from my vintage + industrial store epoch co., but as I'm slowly winding down that business, I'm stealing bits and pieces out of the store to keep for future shoots. Here is a selection of my favourite props to use (mostly for food shoots), and I still prefer well worn vintage pieces that show a lot of their history and character. I'm a recent addict for linen as well, and love natural materials like wood, stone, metal - actually pretty much anything but plastic!

Apart from vintage pieces that I source from garage sales, markets and clearing sales, some of my favourite stores for prop sourcing (and for generally around the house) are:

Father Rabbit - a New Zealand store with beautiful Fog linen goods, things for the kitchen/garden/laundry etc. The scissors, spatulas, and linens in the photo below are all from here.
The Assembly - an online store based in Sydney with lovely wooden spoons/bowls/kitchen pieces, linen and some other bits and pieces.
Rundell & Rundell - the shop component of the great chairmaker and wood worker Glen Rundell, who runs this local Kyneton shop with his wife Lisa. It's full of locally made pieces, from arrows to chairs to axes, it's a great place to find unique pieces.
